Sergey Dereliev

Medium-sized sandpiper with long orange legs, distributed across Eurasia, resident in western and southern Europe, migratory from North and Central Europe to NE China, with an extended winter range in the Mediterranean Basin, the Afrotropics, the Middle East to Indonesia. Two subspecies are visible in Europe: nominate totanus across most of the continent, while ssp. robusta breeds in Iceland and Faeroes.
