The formerly Olivaceus warbler species is, today, splitted into the Eastern (pallida)/Western (opaca) Olivaceus warbler, breeding respectively in SE and SW Europe (Keller et al. 2020). Long-distance migratory species wintering, respectively, in W and E Africa (Kennerley & Pearson 2010).

Connectivité globale pour Hypolaïs pâle

Few recovery data, most show within-Europe (short-range) movements (either dispersal or true migratory movements in their route to or from Africa).Note that many ring-recovery data come from times when the Eastern Olivaceous Warbler belonged to the same species than the current Western Olivaceous Warbler. SW European birds (today, they belong to Western Olivaceous Warbler) show clear NE-SW axis of migration, with some recoveries in NW Africa (Morocco) and two in Senegambia (for more info see also Baker 1997). SE European birds show (true Eastern Olivaceus Warbler) what seems to be SE axis of migration; a recovery from Israel in Cyprus. Literature states that SE European birds overwinter from NE/E Africa to W Arabia (Kennerly & Pearson 2010).

Contrôles par Condition for Hypolaïs pâle

No data before 1960. Between 1961-1990, 98% of the recoveries due to ringing, only 2% as dead recovery due to shooting. Nowadays, 100% of recoveries associated to recaptures of birds alive under ringing programs.

Annual Movements for Hypolaïs pâle

First movements after breeding found in Jul-Aug. For the SW population, passage through NW Africa in autumn until at least Sep, probably also later even no data available. Wintering in Senegambia at least from Nov to Mar. Passage across NW Africa in spring patent in Apr (Arizaga et al. 2012).

Connectivité par mois par région pour Hypolaïs pâle

SE population: Individuals ringed in Israel in Apr and Jun; recovery from Cyprus in Apr.

SW population: data from Spain mostly from May to Aug (though a bird from the Balearics, ringed in May, recovered in mainland Spain in Oct); from NW Africa, from Jun to Sep; from Senegambia, from Nov to Mar.
