The Cyprus Ringing Scheme was launched in 1970, with more than 95 thousand birds of 226 different species ringed until today.
The Cyprus Ringing Scheme extends its thanks to all ringers who have been active in Cyprus and contributed to the ringing effort on the island over the years, including locally based ringers, regular visiting teams and the University of Cyprus Behavioural Ecology and Evolution Lab. A special mention goes to the late Alan Crabtree, who was Ringing Officer of BirdLife Cyprus and managed the Cyprus Ringing Scheme for 16 years until his passing in 2016.
