Switzerland
The Swiss Ringing Centre at the Swiss Ornithological Institute in Sempach has been coordinating bird ringing in Switzerland since 1924. Ringing activities include monitoring of bird migration in the Swiss Alps and the Jura mountains, monitoring of breeding birds through specialized local populations studies and a relatively recent constant effort site program. The Swiss Ringing Centre contributed all ringing and recovery data of birds ringed in Switzerland to the Migration Atlas and participated in reviewing species accounts.
We are especially grateful to all Swiss ringers who have contributed a huge amount of ringing data since 1924. Without their mostly voluntary commitment, we would know much less about birds in Switzerland and beyond. We would like to thank the Federal Office for the Environment FOEN for its long-standing support of the Ringing Centre at the Swiss Ornithological Institute.
Nous sommes particulièrement reconnaissants envers tous les bagueurs et bagueuses suisses qui ont fourni une énorme quantité de données de baguage depuis 1924. Sans leur engagement essentiellement bénévole, nous en saurions beaucoup moins sur les oiseaux de Suisse et d'ailleurs.
